Design criteria

Until the year 2002, Simon Hegele was responsible for the production logistics of a well-known manufacturer in the electronics components industry. However, the buildings, which were located on the customer’s premises, were needed for other purposes. Thus, Simon Hegele decided to build a new logistics center in Karlsdorf, Germany. It turned out that an existing, stored-away conveyor system would perfectly fit into the new Hegele logistics center.

The solution

psb was asked to recondition the existing conveyor equipment. Additionally, 11 AS/RS miniload systems and the conveyors for bins were furnished with new controls; mechanically worn out parts were exchanged at psb’s facilities in Pirmasens. Finally, new zero-accumulation psb conveyors for pallets were added to the »old components«. Ten workstations in the goods receiving area and 14 order picking stations were also connected with the warehouse, by psb bin conveyors. A double-transfer handles the pallets at the goods receiving workstations. The parent Warehouse Management Systems (WMS) communicates with the PLCs via a data concentrator.
