psb autopick for api

Successful market launch of the psb autopick – first project implementation

For psb, as an expert in intralogistics, it is a matter of course to optimize its own material flow and warehousing processes. Since our production warehouse and our purchased-parts warehouse had reached their capacity limits, the decision was made to build a new high-bay warehouse for small parts and pallets.

On a floor layout of approximately 3,700 m² and a height of up to 25 m, a fully automated warehouse is being built that will replace both our inbound goods warehouse and our production warehouse. It will include a shuttle system to accommodate 30,000 bins and a pallet warehouse for 5,000 pallets up to a height of two meters. With these two systems, we will be able to store and retrieve 600 bins and 120 pallets per hour. In addition, 600 m of conveying technology as well as four workstations for storage and retrieval will be installed.

Each robot achieves a throughput of up to 300 cartons per hour. In the current implementation stage, with two systems in operation, this results in a total throughput of approximately 600 items per hour.

The autopick stands out for its high level of flexibility. It can handle different container sizes (680 × 530 mm and 800 × 600 mm) and can process a wide range of carton formats, from a minimum of 350 × 250 × 95 mm to a maximum of 750 × 550 × 530 mm (length/width/height). In addition, the system covers a weight range from 1 kg to 30 kg, making it ideally suited to meet a wide variety of product requirements.

Another key advantage of the project is the factory commissioning of the entire cell, including the conveyor system. For our customer, this means:

  • significantly reduced on-site installation time
  • minimal disruption to ongoing operations
  • high level of project reliability
  • smooth and trouble-free integration

With this first project, the autopick impressively demonstrates its performance and versatility, marking an important step forward in the further development of automated picking solutions.
