ZOLLER automates intralogistics and creates capacity for future growth

ZOLLER is one of the world’s leading manufacturers of devices and software solutions for tool presetting and tool management in machining. At the headquarters in Pleidelsheim (Stuttgart), the existing manual warehousing and picking processes were reaching their limits. To increase the warehouse capacity for future growth, improve efficiency in order fulfillment and reduce errors in storage and picking processes, ZOLLER decided to implement an automated small parts warehouse.

From the original idea of an entry-level compact warehouse (microstore), the concept developed in collaboration during the planning phase into a fully integrated intralogistics solution. In addition to an automated small parts warehouse, the psb selektron WMS was introduced to manage multiple warehouse areas for small parts and pallets.

The new Multi Access Warehouse shuttle system for bins is designed to supply the production with purchased and single parts, to buffer partially and fully picked production orders, and to manage spare parts.
The two-aisle shuttle warehouse features 15 storage levels and achieves a throughput of up to 400 storage and retrieval operations per hour. The system handles different bin and tray sizes in an arrangement up to four deep into the rack. In addition, the stacking of low-height bins enables a particularly efficient utilization of the available storage space and thus the storage of up to 40,000 bins.

The system has been in operation since the beginning of 2025 and now is the key element for production supply and the continued growth of ZOLLER.

In the second half of 2026, we will already implement the first system expansion in inbound logistics and material supply.
